Chelsey SprtelHi there!
My name is Chelsey Sprtel and I am a special education teacher for Lincoln Elementary School, who provides educational and behavioral support to special education students in grades 2 and 4.  I graduated from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh in May of 2015, with a dual major in Elementary Education as well as Special Education and an emphasis in Emotional and Behavioral Disabilities.  Prior to joining the LINCS family, I was a special education teacher in the Milwaukee Public School District for two years where I was able to get my feet wet in the education world!

Why Whitewater?
I could not have chosen a better community to start this next chapter of my life!  My significant other and I had decided to move out of the city of Milwaukee and settle down in Lake Geneva.  When looking for a new place to plant my roots as an educator, Whitewater was my first and number one choice!  What drew me to the Whitewater Unified School District was the commitment made to develop students into leaders so they are equipped to meet the challenges that life throws at them!  I am beyond excited to call Lincoln home and I can not wait to help guide students toward success!

My Teaching Philosophy
Having the opportunity to shape the knowledge of children is both a blessing as well as a gift.  Helping children become the best they can be, inside and outside the classroom, begins with the child themselves.  My personal philosophy of education begins with viewing each child as an individual. Not one of those individuals will learn and interrupt information in exactly the same way, which is why differentiation is vital in the school setting.  It is also my belief that success in the classroom depends heavily on relationships as well as rapport, and communication.  It is my goal to make each of my students feel safe, comfortable, unique as well as inspired in my classroom!  It is my belief that those qualities stem from the relationships that I build with each and everyone of my students!

I encourage and pride myself on having an open line of communication with not only the students and staff I work with, but parents and parental guardians as well!  If at any time you have any questions, concerns or are just in need of a friendly support system, please do not hesitate to contact me!
